SAFETY:
Always inspect the collar integrity. Use good judgment when using a dog
collar. Weigh the risk of your dog jolting out the door unexpectedly without ID
versus having the collar get snagged on furniture or on your dog’s crate.
Opinions differ regarding if a collar should be worn, with ID, at all times.
CARE:
Like most dog collars, I have found that these collars can be hand washing by
soaking in mild soap, rinsing and laid flat to dry away from the sun (to
prevent fading). Rubbing silk fabric should be gentle and with the grain.
With over 35 years of sewing experience, I can create a collar just for your
BFF (best furry friend). But since necktie and belt fabric is limited, don’t
wait for some else to snatch it up.
MEASUREMENTS:
The sizes listed are the measurement of the collar size, not neck size. When
measuring your pet’s collar size, remember that you should be able to fit 2
fingers under the collar, so you may need to add approximately 1 and 1/2 to 2
inches to the tape measurement of the neck (less for smaller breeds). The
collar will generally be constructed allowing for adjustment up or down;
however, for puppies, we suggest the measurement be the minimum to allow for
growth.
The Martingale collar is designed for dogs whose necks are larger than their
heads (e.g., greyhounds) but is often used for dogs who are able to back out of
their traditional buckle collars. A Martingale collar is fitted such that 1 or
2 fingers can fit under the collar when the collar is adjusted around the dog’s
neck.
Let us know if you have any questions about measurement and we will do our
best to help.
