Are you an aquarium or terrarium enthusiast, or know someone who is? This set
was put together to outfit a medium size tank. It includes 20 black / dark gray
rocks, ranging from roughly 2"-3" on their longest axis. You'll see a variety
of pockmarking types and unique crevices - in the right setting, one or two
would make excellent lava walls or towers. Also known as “scoria” or “cinder”,
they were hand-picked directly from the Springerville Volcanic Field, near the
White Mountains of east-central Arizona.
Those pockmarks are scoria's most recognizable feature. When they were
expelled from volcanoes that were active here over a half million years ago,
hot gases were captured within the molten lava and trapped as it cooled,
leaving thousands of tiny "pores" within the rock itself.
Lava rocks are ideal for use in aquariums and terrariums. They make
exceptional bases for planting succulents and air plants, too! For more
information about why ... and for more information about lava rocks in general
... please visit our blog, with answers to some "Frequently Asked Questions".
At Arizona Lava Rocks, we know how to rock! Each of these scoria were picked
up because something about them caught our eye. Again, this listing is for the
specific rocks you see in the accompanying photos. Our inventory is constantly
changing - please check out our other listings.
